ST. THOMAS, U.S. VIRGIN ISLANDS — The Virgin Islands Police Department (VIPD) proudly
invites members of the VIPD family, the media, and the Virgin Islands community to join us in
welcoming home Officer Cindy Claudio, who will return to the territory following an historic
performance at the 2026 Central American and Caribbean Games in Santo Domingo,
Dominican Republic.
Officer Claudio, who proudly represented the Virgin Islands in boxing, captured a bronze
medal at the Games, making history as the first female athlete representing the Virgin Islands
to medal at the Central American and Caribbean Games.
For the VIPD, Officer Claudio’s achievement is especially meaningful as she represents the
Department both on the job and on the international athletic stage.
“This is a tremendous moment not only for Officer Claudio, but for the Virgin Islands and the
Virgin Islands Police Department,” said Police Commissioner Mario Brooks. “Officer Claudio
has demonstrated the same discipline, courage, commitment, and determination that we ask
of every member of this Department. She stepped into the ring carrying the pride of the Virgin
Islands, and she left the competition having made history. We are extremely proud of her
accomplishment and look forward to welcoming our champion home.”
