
St. Croix, U.S. Virgin Islands – The Virgin Islands Police Department advises that Jomar Sanes, 29 was extradited to St. Croix to face charges of Carrying of firearm openly or concealed and Possession of ammunition.
On April 26, 2026, at approximately 11:25 p.m., the 911 Emergency Call Center received several reports of shots fired in the Castle Burke neighborhood. Responding officers observed a male, later identified as Jomar Sanes, with several gunshot wounds. Sanes was transported to the hospital by ambulance. While being treated, a firearm was found in his possession. Further investigation revealed that Sanes did not have a license to possess a firearm; therefore, an arrest warrant was obtained from the Superior Court. It was later determined that Sanes fled the island, and the warrant was entered into National Crime Information Center (N.C.I.C.) database.
On or about June 18, 2026, Sanes was apprehended and detained in Florida.
On July 3, 2026, Sanes was extradited to St. Croix by detectives of the Criminal Investigation Bureau, where he was arrested and processed. Unable to post $50,000.00 bail, Sanes was remanded to the John Bell Adult Correctional Facility pending advice of rights on July 6, 2026, at the Superior Court.
