ST. CROIX, U.S. Virgin Islands — August 14, 2026: The Virgin Islands Police Department (VIPD)
announces the arrest of Quasheem Christian following an encounter during the Special
Operations Bureau’s high-visibility street operation, “Operation Rapid Response,” on St.
Croix.
On Thursday, August 13, 2026, Special Operations Bureau officers were conducting saturated
and high-visibility patrols throughout St. Croix when they encountered several individuals
gathered on the western side of the Lower Love Gas Station.
As officers approached the individuals, two males fled on foot toward the front of the
building. Officers pursued and detained both individuals.
During the foot pursuit, officers observed Christian with what appeared to be a handgun in
his waistband. Once the individuals were secured, officers conducted a preliminary
investigation and searched the immediate area from which Christian had fled.
The search resulted in the recovery of a .223-caliber “ghost” rifle equipped with a loaded
drum magazine and a live round chambered. Officers also recovered a loaded Glock 19 9mm
handgun from Christian, which was equipped with an automatic conversion device and an
extended magazine containing 32 live rounds.
Christian was subsequently placed under arrest, booked, and processed for the applicable
firearm-related offenses.
His bail was set at $50,000. Unable to post bail, Christian was transported to the John A. Bell
Adult Correctional Facility, where he was remanded pending his Advice of Rights Hearing
scheduled for Friday, August 14, 2026, at the Superior Court of the Virgin Islands.
The VIPD remains committed to proactive enforcement efforts aimed at removing illegal
firearms from the streets and enhancing public safety throughout the territory.
