St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands – The Virgin Islands Police Department (VIPD) is urging residents and visitors to remain vigilant and is seeking the community’s assistance as detectives investigate three armed robberies that occurred during the early morning hours of Saturday, August 8, 2026, in the St. Thomas district.
Wheatley Shopping Center Robbery
At approximately 2:07 a.m., the 911 Emergency Call Center dispatched officers to the area of Wheatley Shopping Center in reference to a robbery.
Responding officers made contact with the victims who reported that while in a vehicle in the Wheatley Center parking lot, they were approached by two armed suspects dressed in all black. The suspects demanded their jewelry before fleeing on foot toward Schneider Regional Medical Center.
Neither victim sustained physical injuries, however, the suspects fled with jewelry and a cellular phone.
Pink Palm Hotel Robbery
At approximately 3:47 a.m., officers and detectives responded to the area of the Pink Palm Hotel following a reported robbery.
The victims were walking back to their hotel rooms when they were approached by two masked males dressed in all-black clothing, one of whom was armed with a firearm. The suspects allegedly demanded their belongings before fleeing the area on foot in an unknown direction.
Neither victim reported any physical injuries. The suspects escaped with jewelry, cash, and other personal items.
Main Street Robbery
At approximately 4:55 a.m., officers received a report of a robbery in the area of Main Street.
The victim reported that she was approached by two males dressed in all-black clothing and wearing masks that exposed only their eyes. One suspect allegedly pointed what appeared to be a black handgun at her and demanded her belongings.
The victim was not physically injured. The suspects fled on foot with jewelry and a cellular phone.
The VIPD is asking the public to remain alert, particularly during late-night and early-morning hours, and to immediately report any suspicious persons or activities.
