
St. Croix, U.S. Virgin Islands – On August 24, 2026, at approximately 5:05 p.m., Virgin Islands Police Department units were dispatched by the 911 Emergency Call Center to a residence on St. Croix following reports of a male allegedly threatening individuals with a possible firearm.
A detective responded to the scene and, while de-escalating the situation, was assaulted by one of the occupants in the house, who was then tased by the detective.
As a result of the incident, Aaliyah Cuencas, 21 was arrested and charged with Aggravated Assault and Battery Upon a Police Officer and Obstructing and Delaying. Cuencas was booked and processed at the Wilbur H. Francis Command Police Station. Bail was set at $1,000.00, which she posted. She was subsequently released pending her Advice of Rights hearing.
