UPDATE: Lorraine Village Shooting Suspect in Custody

St. Croix, U.S. Virgin Islands – The Virgin Islands Police Department now has suspect Janigh Gonsalves, in custody for the shooting incident in Lorraine Village that injured two individuals on June 29, 2026.

Gonsalves, 23, was charged with Attempted Murder, along with reckless endangerment first degree, Carrying of firearms, openly or concealed, Possession or sale of ammunition, Brandishing, exhibiting or using deadly weapons and Carrying or Using Dangerous Weapons. No bail was set in this matter as per the domestic violence statute.

On June 29, 2026, at 8:48 a.m., the St. Croix 911 Emergency Call Center received a report that a male and female were shot multiple times at Lorraine Village.

Both victims were transported to Juan F. Luis Hospital via ambulance and remain in stable condition.
