
St. Croix, U.S. Virgin Islands —The 911 Emergency Call Center received a call reporting that a male was stabbed by a relative in Estate Glynn at about 3:04 p.m. on September 7, 2026.
Upon officers’ arrival at the scene, they observed an unresponsive adult male. The victim was transported to the Juan Luis Hospital emergency room via ambulance. The victim subsequently succumbed as a result of multiple stab wounds. His next of kin identified him as 53-years-old Jose Antonio Cotto.
While at the scene, the suspect was identified as Miguel A. Cotto.
Miguel Cotto, 45, was detained and transported to the Criminal Investigation Bureau, where he was advised of his rights, interviewed, and arrested for Murder First degree, Assault First, Assault Third degree, and Possession of a Dangerous Weapon During the Commission of a Crime. Cotto was booked and unable to post bail which was set at $1,000,000.00. He was remanded to the John A. Bell Adult Correctional Facility pending his advice of rights hearing.
