Special Operations Bureau Unit Seize Multiple Firearms and Ammunition During Traffic Stop on St. John

St. John, U.S. Virgin Islands – On Friday, June 12, 2026, at approximately 5:30 p.m., officers of the Virgin Islands Police Department Special Operation Bureau officers observed a dark-colored Acura MDX traveling with an illegally tinted windshield and a traffic stop was initiated.

A search of the vehicle was conducted and during which several loaded magazines were discovered inside the center console. Officers located a Glock 21, .45 caliber pistol equipped with an extended magazine concealed inside the trunk of the vehicle.

The operator of the Acura MDX, identified as Yariel Guerrero-Roble, admitted ownership of the Glock 21, .45 caliber pistol and the loaded magazines and was placed under arrest without incident.

Unable to post bail, Guerrero-Roble was booked, processed, and turned over to the Bureau of Corrections pending his Advise of Rights hearing. He was charged with Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm and Unauthorized Possession of Ammunition.
