
JANIAH MATEO – IN CUSTODY

SANDRA MADRIGAL – STILL AT LARGE
St. Croix, U.S. Virgin Islands – On July 14, 2026, 25-year-old Janiah Mateo was arrested by members of the Virgin Islands Police Department after she turned herself in to the Wilbur H. Francis Command Police Station on charges of Assault in the Third Degree and Disturbance of the Peace by fighting.
On June 26, 2026, Mateo, along with her mother, Sandra Madrigal, and another unidentified individual, assaulted a female victim by punching her in the face during an incident that caused the victim injuries, in the vicinity of Little Princess Hill.
Bail for Mateo was set at $25,000.00. Unable to post bail, she was remanded into the custody of the John A. Bell Adult Correctional Facility pending her Advice of Rights Hearing.
Mateo’s mother, Sandra Madrigal, 49, is currently at large and is also wanted for the same charges that Mateo is facing for the assault. Madrigal is described as African American, at approximately 5’6”, weighs about 158 pounds, has black hair and brown eyes and is known to frequent Estate Bellevue.
