
ST. THOMAS, U.S. Virgin Islands — On Monday, September 28, 2026, at approximately 1:00 a.m., the Virgin Islands Police Department’s gunshot detection system detected multiple gunshots on Veterans Drive.
Responding patrol officers located a female who had sustained at least one gunshot wound. She was transported to Schneider Regional Medical Center, where she succumbed to her injuries. Next of kin identified the deceased as 21-year-old J’Niya Rambaran.
Based on information received detectives identified 21-year-old Kevin Warrell as a suspect.
On Saturday, October 3, 2026, detectives received information that Warrell was at Cyril E. King Airport preparing to board a flight to the U.S. mainland. Detectives responded to the airport, detained Warrell, and transported him to the Richard Callwood Command.
Warrell was arrested and charged with First-Degree Murder, Second-Degree Murder, First-Degree Assault, and Possession of a Firearm During a Crime of Violence.
By order of the court, bail was set at $1,000,000.00. Unable to post bail, Warrell was remanded to the custody of the Bureau of Corrections pending his Advice of Rights hearing.
