St. Croix, U.S. Virgin Islands – During “Operation Rapid Response” and “Operation Safe Communities,” on Saturday, September 27, 2026, the Special Operations Bureau Police Officers were conducting saturated patrol and monitoring activities in the Williams Delight area.
The Special Operations Bureau Tactical Response Team observed a white Dodge Durango driving along Melvin H. Evans Highway, as it made an illegal lane change. The officers attempted to initiate a traffic stop.
As the vehicle began to slow down, a male jumped from the rear passenger door and began running towards the residential area of Whim while grabbing his waistband area. The Officers pursued the male in a foot chase, when a handgun fell from his person. The male was detained. After further investigation it was determined that the male, identified as Angel Perez, did not have a valid firearm license for the firearm recovered.
Perez, 24, was arrested and charged with Carrying of a Firearm, Openly or Concealed and Possession or Sale of Ammunition. Bail was set at $50,000.00. Unable to post bail, he was transported to the John A. Bell Adult Correctional Facility where he was remanded pending their Advise of Rights Hearing.
