The Virgin Islands Police Department has arrested one suspect, recovered a stolen vehicle, and seized multiple firearms following a vehicle pursuit connected to an armed robbery investigation.
On Friday, September 25, 2026, a tan Toyota Corolla was reported stolen during an armed robbery at Splash and Dash Car Wash. The victim reported that he and his friends were washing their vehicles when they were approached by two masked men dressed in black who ordered them to get on the ground. The suspects then entered the Corolla and drove away.
As part of Operation Safe Communities, on Sunday, September 27, 2026, officers of the Virgin Islands Police Department’s Special Response Team, assisted by personnel from the Virgin Islands Waste Management Authority, located the suspected stolen Corolla in the Crown Bay area. Officers attempted to initiate a traffic stop on Terrence A. Todman Drive; however, although the driver initially stopped, he subsequently sped away.
Officers pursued the vehicle onto George Francis Drive, where the driver lost control of the Corolla, causing it to spin and collide with a police cruiser in the area of Vitraco Park Mall. Three individuals were inside the stolen vehicle at the time of the collision.
As the vehicle spun out, the first male exited from the passenger side, pointed a long gun at pursuing officers, and fled the area on foot while still armed.
A second male, later identified as Danllerli Cabrera, 21, also attempted to flee but was swiftly apprehended. During his attempted escape, a firearm fell from his person.
A third male sustained serious injuries during the collision. He subsequently succumbed to his injuries. He was identified by next of kin as Adonai Cozier, 21.
Officers recovered four firearms connected to the incident: three Glock handguns and one AR-15-style long gun. One of the recovered handguns had been modified to enable fully automatic fire.
Following medical treatment for injuries sustained during the auto collision, Cabrera was taken into custody. He was advised of his rights, booked, and processed on firearm and ammunition charges. Bail was set at $100,000.00. Unable to post bail, he was tuned over the Bureau of Corrections pending an Advice of Rights Hearing scheduled for Monday, September 28, 2026.
