Man Arrested in Connection with July 2026 Shooting Incident Near Profit

RA’KHEEL VELAZQUEZ

St. Croix, U.S. Virgin Islands – On Sunday, July 26, 2026, at approximately 4:30 a.m., the 911 Emergency Call Center received reports of shots being fired along the Melvin H. Evans High in the vicinity of Profit. A detective of the Major Crime Unit investigation revealed that Ra’Kheel Velazquez was the suspect in this matter.

Thereafter, on August 12, 2026, the Superior Court signed an arrest warrant for Ra’Kheel Velazquez. 

On September 3, 2026, Ra’Kheel Velazquez, 28 was placed under arrest for Reckless Endangerment First, Illegal discharge of a firearm, Possession or sale of ammunition and carrying or using dangerous weapon. His bail was set at $50,000.00. He was booked and remanded to the Bureau of Corrections pending his Advise of Rights Hearing set for September 4, 2026.
