St. John, U.S. Virgin Islands – An adult female was arrested following a disturbance during the St. John Celebration J’ouvert event after allegedly assaulting a police officer and interfering with law enforcement efforts to control a disorderly crowd.
On June 3, 2026, at approximately 8:00 a.m., officers responded to several physical altercations involving members of the public in the vicinity of the Lumber Yard in Cruz Bay.
While attempting to maintain order, officers encountered an adult female later identified as 48-year-old Carla Jeffers, who was pulling away from and pushing a police officer while yelling loudly.
Several attempts were made to gain control of Jeffers who assaulted an officer and refused to obey officers verbal commands. She was subsequently handcuffed and placed under arrest for Aggravated Assault and Battery Upon an Officer, Interfering with an Officer Discharging her Duties, and Disturbing the Peace; Fighting.
Her bail was set at $1,000.00 which was later paid. Ms. Jeffers’ Advice of Rights Hearing is scheduled for Monday July 06, 2026, at 9:00 a.m.
