Responsive Minor Discovered with Gunshot Wounds in Savan, Later Succumbed to Injuries

St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands – On Friday, June 12, 2026, at approximately 2:17 p.m., the 911 Emergency Call Center received notification from the ShotSpotter detection system of multiple gunshots fired in the area of Vester Gade. Shortly thereafter, a concerned citizen reported that a male victim had sustained injuries.

The Virgin Islands Police Department units responded to the scene and made contact with a responsive male who appeared to have sustained multiple gunshot wounds to his body. The male was transported by ambulance to Roy Lester Schneider Hospital, where medical personnel performed lifesaving measures. Despite these efforts, he later succumbed to his injuries. The male was identified by his next of kin as 15-year-old, Tre’Vante Etienne.
