St. Croix, U.S. Virgin Islands -On May 16, 2026, at around 11:39 a.m., a caller contacted the 911 Emergency Call Center to requesting an escort to her home due to a domestic incident involving a male acquaintance, who was reportedly violent and in possession of a firearm.
Police Officers made contact with the suspect, 69-year-old Hubert Charles. A firearm was recovered inside the residence and Charles admitted that he had brought it there. Charles does not have a license to carry a firearm or ammunition in the U.S. Virgin Islands.
Charles was placed under arrest and booked. He was charged with unauthorized possession of a firearm and possession of ammunition. Unable to post bail set at $50,000.00, he was transported to the John A. Bell Correctional Facility pending his Advice of Rights Hearing.
