
St. Croix, U.S. Virgin Islands – On October 22, 2025, at approximately 1:30 p.m., members of the Virgin Islands Police Department seized an Acura RDX at Moe’s Service Station. The vehicle was taken as part of an ongoing investigation into Joshawn Ayala and his girlfriend concerning the possession of an illegal firearm. At the time of the seizure, Joshawn Ayala was driving the vehicle, with Lloyd Ferdinand as the passenger.
On October 23, 2025, a Magistrate Judge for the Superior Court of the U.S. Virgin Islands issued a search warrant for an Acura RDX. Members of the Criminal Investigation Bureau executed this warrant and recovered a firearm, ammunition, and narcotics.
On November 7, 2025, a Magistrate Judge of the Virgin Islands Superior Court issued an arrest warrant for Joshawn Ayala and Lloyd Ferdinand. On November 15, 2025, Lloyd Ferdinand was arrested at his residence, while Joshawn Ayala fled the territory.
On Wednesday, January 14, 2026, officers from the Virgin Islands Police Department in the St. Croix District received information that Joshawn Ayala had returned to the territory.
On Friday, January 16, 2026, 23-year-old Joshawn Ayala was detained without incident and subsequently arrested. Ayala was charged with Carrying of a Firearm; Openly or Concealed, Possession of Ammunition, Trafficking Cocaine, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Simple Possession, Possession of a Controlled Substance with Intent to Distribute. Unable to post bail set at $50,000, as specified in the arrest warrant, Ayala was transported to the John Bell Adult Correctional Facility while he awaits his Advice of Rights Hearing.
