Stolen Bike Incident Led to the Arrest of 55-year-old Man for Illegal Gun Possession

St. Croix, U.S. Virgin Islands – On February 23, 2025, at approximately 4:46 p.m. the 911 Emergency Call Center received reports of an adult male pointing a firearm at a minor in the Williams Delight residential area. Responding Officers made contact with the victim and several other witnesses who stated that Mr. Steven Weeks threatened a minor with a firearm.

Detectives of the Criminal Investigation Bureau were assigned to investigate this matter. The investigation revealed that Weeks became enraged after he learned that someone stole his grandchild’s bike from the yard. Weeks armed himself with a firearm and confronted a minor under the age of 12 with the firearm, demanding the minor leave with him to locate his grandchild’s bike. Several citizens observed Weeks with the gun on the minor. Contact was made with Weeks who was advised of his Miranda rights and admitted that he had a pellet gun only to retrieve the bike. On May 20, 2025, an arrest and search warrant were issued by an Honorable Judge of the Superior Court. On May 29, 2025, the search and arrest warrants were executed. Steven Weeks, age 55 was placed under arrest without incident for Unauthorized Possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime of violence. Bail was set at $100,000.00.
