Economic Crimes Unit Arrest Home Depot Employee for Theft

St. Croix, U.S. Virgin Islands – On January 17, 2025, Detectives from the Economic Crimes Unit initiated an investigation into Daniel Ramos, an employee at The Home Depot. The investigation revealed that on December 26, 2024 while Ramos was working, he knowingly took an air condition unit out of The Home Depot and placed it in a black Denali truck, and on January 28, 2025 he took a red Milwaukee blower and placed it in a dark color Infinity SUV, without him or the unknown individual purchasing the merchandise, causing The Home Depot a loss of $958.00.

On April 9, 2025, Ramos was attempting to leave the island and was apprehended by Customs and Boarder Patrol at the Henry E. Rohlsen Airport, where he was detained. Ramos was turned over to Detectives of the Virgin Islands Police Department Economic Crimes Unit and he was served an Arrest Warrant and placed under arrest without incident. Daniel Ramos,50, was charged with Grand Larceny, Embezzlement by Employee and Conspiracy.

Ramos was transported to the Wilbur H. Francis Police Operation Building in Frederiksted, where he was processed and booked. Bail was set at $35,000.00. Ramos was allowed to post ten percent of his bail and was released pending his Advise of Rights hearing.
