
St. Croix, U.S. Virgin Islands – On August 30, 2025, at approximately 11:44 a.m., an adult male victim was transported to the Juan F. Luis Hospital Emergency Room via ambulance. The victim reported to Officers that while he was asleep inside the old gym located upstairs from Subway in Golden Rock, he was assaulted by a male with a knife and a metal pipe. As a result of the assault, the victim sustained serious injuries to his arm.
Detectives of the Criminal Investigation Bureau investigation revealed that Alexander Mateo was identified as the suspect in this case and an All Points Bulletin (A.P.B.) was put on him.
On September 18, 2025, 47-year-old Alexander Mateo was present at the Wilbur Francis Command where he was advised of his Miranda Rights and agreed to give a statement. Mateo was placed under arrest, booked and unable to post bail. He was charged with Assault in the Third Degree with bail set at $75,000.00. He was transported to the John A. Bell Golden Grove Adult Correctional Facility where he was remanded pending his Advice of Rights Hearing on Friday, September 19, 2025, at the Superior Court.
