VIPD to Host Official Swearing-In Ceremony for Newly Appointed Chiefs of Police

St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands — The Virgin Islands Police Department (VIPD) proudly announces the official Swearing-In Ceremony for its newly appointed Chiefs of Police, Deborah L. Hodge of the St. Thomas-St. John District and Uston A. Cornelius of the St. Croix District. The ceremony will take place on Tuesday, August 5, 2025, at 10:00 AM, at the University of the Virgin Islands’ Elridge W. Blake Sports & Fitness Center.

This significant event will mark a new chapter of leadership for the VIPD as Chiefs Hodge and Cornelius officially take their oaths to lead their respective districts with dedication, integrity, and a steadfast commitment to public safety. Both Chiefs bring with them decades of experience, strong community ties, and a vision to advance the department’s mission of service and protection across the Territory.

Police Commissioner Mario M. Brooks expressed his pride in both Chiefs and the confidence he has in their leadership. “Chief Hodge and Chief Cornelius have consistently exemplified the true spirit of leadership, service, and professionalism throughout their careers.
