St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands – The Virgin Islands Police Department (VIPD) announces the arrest of 27-year-old Kemo Riley Jr. of Ross Taarneberg.
On June 14, 2025, officers and detectives of the Virgin Islands Police Department were dispatched to a shooting in the vicinity of KFC at Fort Mylner, resulting in the death of a male victim. Upon arrival at the scene, detectives reviewed video footage, which indicated that the victim was wearing jewelry and carrying a crossbody bag, moments prior to the incident. Initially, the investigation suggested that the shooting may have been associated with a robbery. However, further examination of the evidence revealed that after the victim was shot, Mr. Kemo Riley Jr. approached the crime scene, opened the victim’s vehicle door, and unlawfully removed items, specifically jewelry and a crossbody bag containing a firearm, from the victim’s vehicle.
Mr. Riley failed to notify law enforcement of his actions or alert 911 of this shooting incident. As a result of these findings, he was arrested and charged with unlicensed possession of a firearm, obstruction of justice, and willful concealment of evidence.
The VIPD encourages anyone with information regarding this incident or other related matters to contact 911 or reach out to the detectives of the Criminal Investigation Bureau directly.
