Traffic Investigation Bureau Respond to Collision on Southside Road

St. Croix, U.S. Virgin Islands – On Wednesday, September 10, 2025, at approximately 7:06 p.m., the Virgin Islands Emergency Management Agency’s (VITEMA) 911 Emergency Communication Center, dispatched a Traffic Detective to an automobile collision, which occurred on Southside Road (Route 62) in the vicinity of Catherine’s Rest Road (Route 83).

The preliminary investigation revealed that a white Ford Explorer, was heading eastbound in the eastbound lane and a black Harley Davidson Road Glide motorcycle, was heading westbound. The Harley Davidson entered the eastbound lane where it collided, head on, with the Ford Explorer.

Both drivers were transported via ambulance to the Juan F. Luis Hospital Emergency Room, however the operator of the Harley Davidson Motorcycle succumbed to his injuries. The next kin positively identified the deceased as 52-year-old, Mr. Harold Bruce Mays II.

This case is under investigation by the Virgin Island Police Department Traffic Investigation Bureau, St. Croix District.
