ST. CROIX, U.S. Virgin Islands — August 14, 2026: At approximately 11:01 p.m., the Virgin
Islands 911 Emergency Call Center received several calls reporting a structure fire at a
residence in the Williams Delight area.
Multiple callers reported that the residence, identified as the former home of the late VIPD
Officer Eustace Charles, was fully engulfed in flames. Preliminary information indicates that
the residence was unoccupied at the time of the fire.
Virgin Islands Fire and Emergency Medical Services personnel, along with officers from the
Virgin Islands Police Department, responded to the scene. Fire personnel confirmed a working
structure fire and initiated firefighting operations.
The cause of the fire and the full extent of the damage remain under investigation.
