SOB Traffic Stop Ends in Arrest and Firearms Recovery on Veterans Drive

K’ANDRE LAKE

St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands – On Friday, March 27, 2026, at approximately 10:22 p.m., Special Operations Bureau (SOB) Officers observed a black Acura ILX traveling eastbound without a rear license plate along Veterans Drive.

Officers attempted to initiate a traffic stop; however, the operator of the vehicle failed to comply and fled the area. During the pursuit, the driver disregarded multiple stop signs and traffic signals and nearly collided with other motorists.

The pursuit came to an end when the operator lost control of the vehicle, causing it to crash into a wall in front of a laundromat on Alton Adams Drive.

Following the collision, a passenger later identified as K’Andre Lake exited the vehicle and fled the scene on foot. Officers pursued Lake and apprehended him shortly thereafter. Upon arrest, Lake was found to be in possession of a firearm and was taken into custody.

Lake informed officers that he had discarded an additional firearm during the pursuit. He provided a detailed description and location of the weapon, which officers later recovered based on that information.

K’Andre Lake, 22, was charged with Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm, Unauthorized Possession of Ammunition, Reckless Endangerment, Possession of a Firearm Within 1,000 Feet of a School, Constructive Possession of Ammunition, Disobeying a Lawful Order, Possession of a Firearm with an Obliterated Serial Number, Destruction of Property, Interfering with an Officer in the Discharge of Official Duties, and Simple Possession of Marijuana. He was remanded to the Bureau of Corrections, and bail was set at $180,000.00.
