Second Suspect in February 3rd Shooting in Frederiksted Arrested

St. Croix, Virgin Islands – On February 3, 2026, at around 9:26 p.m., the 911 Emergency Call Center received several ShotSpotter notifications of shots being fired in Frederiksted town in the vicinity of Queen Street and Market Street. Officers arriving on scene found multiple spent cartridge casings in the roadway, as well as several vehicles that were damaged by gunfire. Shortly thereafter, a gunshot victim arrived at the Juan F. Luis Hospital.

A Detective from the Criminal Investigation Bureau was assigned to investigate this case. The investigation revealed that an argument between the gunshot victim and Shalom Fenton Sr. occurred in a parking lot near Queen Street and Market Street. The situation escalated, resulting in John Abramson IV and Shalom Fenton Sr. discharging firearms.

An arrest warrant for John Abramson IV was signed by a Superior Court Judge, and he was taken into custody on February 26, 2026. He faces charges of Carrying a Firearm Openly or Concealed and Possession of Ammunition.

John Abramson IV, age 18 was transported to the Wilbur Francis Command Police Station, where he was booked, and his defense attorney made special arrangements with the Superior Court Judge, who granted Abramson 10 percent of his bail (which was set at $50,000.00) to secure his release. He was able to post bail and is scheduled to appear for his Advice of Rights Hearing.
