Police Arrest St. Thomas Man Found with Unauthorized Firearm During Traffic Stop

St. Thomas, Virgin Islands – On Saturday, February 21, 2026, at about 1:52 a.m., Special Operations Bureau Officers observed a blue Ford Escape traveling westbound on Harwood Highway disregard a red traffic light, causing another vehicle to swerve to avoid an auto collision. Officers initiated a traffic stop of the vehicle which had several occupants. The reason for the traffic stop was explained, and all the occupants were ordered to exit the vehicle. For the officers’ safety, the occupants were pat down, during which 20-year-old, Mr. Asahi Fleming was found to be in possession of a firearm to which he stated that he did not have a license to possess. Fleming was then placed under arrest for Possession of an Unlicensed Firearm and Possession of Ammunition. His bail was set at $75,000.00.
