Police Arrest Man for Allegedly Assaulting Wife at St. Thomas Resort

St. Thomas, Virgin Islands – On Friday, February 20, 2026, an adult female victim was transported via ambulance to Schneider Regional Medical Center after being assaulted by her husband with a hot iron. The female victim informed officers that her husband, 43-year-old Eliseo Huerta, pressed a hot iron firmly against her buttocks, causing second degree when she turned her back to him during an argument at their villa at the Sapphire Beach Resort. She concluded by stating that he struck her several times about her body before leaving the villa.

On Monday, February 23, 2026, at about 4:00 p.m., Huerta was detained at Cyril E. King Airport and informed of the allegations made against him. He was advised of his Constitutional Rights and given an opportunity to provide a statement. After refusing to provide a statement he was placed under arrest, booked, processed and turned over to the Bureau of Corrections pending his Advise of Rights Hearing. Eliseo Huerta was charged with Third Degree Assault, Simple Assault and Disturbance of the Peace (DV).
