Patrol Officers Arrest 34-year-old Man for Domestic Violence Assault

St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands – Officers were dispatched to a St. Thomas residence in reference to an assault on Saturday, January 3, 2026, at about 11:17 a.m.

Upon arrival, the Officers met with the victim who stated that she and Mr. Ashby Gibson got into an argument which tuned into a physical altercation. The victim stated that Mr. Gibson caused her to fall, dragged her on the rug and strangled her while she was on the ground. She further stated that Gibson threw objects at her, striking her. The victim then stated that she grabbed her infant child while she attempted to leave, however Gibson pushed her against the glass front door while she was holding her baby. She stated that she was able to get away and at that time she called 911.

The victim sustained visible injures and complained about pain to her neck. Her infant child did not sustain any injuries. Emergency Medical Technicians on the scene examined the victim, but she refused to be transported to Roy L. Schneider Hospital.

Contact was made with Gibson, and he was advised of his Constitutional Right. Ashby Gibson,34, was placed under arrest, transported to the Richard Callwood Command, where he was booked and processed, and turned over to the Bureau of Corrections pending his Advice of Rights Hearing. Gibson was charged with Assault Second DV, Assault Third DV, Simple Assault DV, Disturbance of the Peace DV, and Reckless Endangerment Second. No bail was set due to the Virgin Islands Domestic Violence law.
