Nightclub Owner Arrested After Allegedly Interfering with Officers During Business Closure Enforcement

St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands — At approximately 5:00 a.m., a Virgin Islands Police Department Special Operations officer was conducting sector patrol when he instructed a nightclub to cease operations.

William Thelusma, the owner of the night club, became confrontational and instructed the DJ not to comply with the officer’s orders and grabbed the officer by his duty belt. Thelusma was taken into custody following a brief struggle.

During the incident, officers also secured a Glock 19 9mm pistol that was reportedly in Thelusma’s possession.

Thelusma was transported to the Richard Callwood Command, where he was charged with Aggravated Assault and Battery and Interfering with an Officer Discharging His Duties.

Bail was set at $1,500.
