Minors Report of DV Assault Led to their Mother’s Arrest

St. Croix, U.S. Virgin Islands – On October 2, 2025, at approximately 6:22 p.m., the Criminal Investigation Bureau was dispatched via the VITEMA 911 Emergency Call Center to investigate an assault incident.

Investigators made contact with a minor who stated that her mother assaulted and strangled one of her younger siblings during an argument. Contact was made with the victim, a minor who sustained visible injuries. Human Services was notified, and the minors were removed from the home.

Contact was made with the mother, Amanda Gonzales, at her job, and she was transported to the Wilbur H. Francis Command. Gonzales,35, was advised of her rights and declined to give a statement. Gonzalez was charged with Assault Second and Simple Assault and Battery DV. She was booked, and no bail was set in this matter until seen by a judge. She was transported to the Golden Grove Adult Correctional Facility, where she was remanded pending her Advice of Rights Hearing at the Superior Court.
