Investigators Made Arrest of 39-year-old Man in DV Assault Case

St. Croix, U.S. Virgin Islands – On November 1, 2025, at approximately 6:39 a.m., the 911 Emergency Call Center received a telephone call of a domestic disturbance in progress at a New Works residence. Upon the arrival of the responding officers, it was disclosed to them that Mr. Nelson Navarro strangled the victim, causing injuries. A member of the Criminal Investigation Bureau was assigned to investigate this matter, and it was disclosed that Navarro damaged the victim’s front door, entered her residence, assaulted her and damaged additional property. The victim indicated that she did not give Navarro permission to enter her residence. The victim also stated that she was unable to breathe at the time of the assault.

Navarro was detained and transported to the Wilbur H. Francis Command Police Station, where he was later advised of his Miranda Rights. Nelson Navarro, 39, was placed under arrest and charged with Assault in the Second Degree, an act of Domestic Violence. He was booked, and no bail was set in this matter until seen by a judge. Navarro was then transported to the John Bell Adult Correctional Facility pending his Advice of Rights hearing set for Monday, November 3, 2025, at the Superior Court.
