FATAL COLLISION CLAIMS LIFE OF 54-YEAR-OLD WOMAN ON QUEEN MARY HIGHWAY

St. Croix, U.S. Virgin Islands – On Saturday April 19, 2025, at approximately 7:17 p.m., the Traffic Investigation Bureau Officers were dispatched by the Virgin Islands Territorial Emergency Management Agency (VITEMA), 911 Call Center to investigate a collision involving a pedestrian which occurred on Queen Mary Highway (Route 70) in the vicinity of The Market Supermarket.

Upon arrival at the scene, preliminary investigation revealed that the pedestrian was walking eastbound in the eastbound lane when she was struck from behind. The pedestrian was identified at the scene by her next of kin as 54-year-old Christina Finney.

The driver left the scene, and no one reported being involved in a collision with a pedestrian at 911 or to any police station in the St. Croix District that evening.

The Emergency Room Physician at the Governor Juan F. Luis Hospital, stated that Ms. Finney sustained multiple blunt force trauma to the body and experienced respiratory and cardiac arrest.

There is no conclusive information on the driver or the vehicle at this time, however, the vehicle the VIPD is looking for should have damage to the front left side and is dark in color with an extended cab. The make and model are unknown at this time.

This case will remain open and under investigation by the Virgin Island Police Department Traffic Investigation Bureau, St. Croix District.
