St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands – Officers traveled to the Roy Lester Schneider Hospital on December 24, 2024, at approximately 9:15 a.m., regarding an attempt to commit suicide case. Upon arrival, officers met with the victim who stated that she was sexually assaulted by a family member and as a result she wanted to commit suicide.
Subsequently, the victim was interviewed by detectives of the Domestic Violence Unit and supporting investigative agencies. The victim stated that Rehelio Trant, sexually assaulted her shortly after he was released from prison. During the investigation, a minor female family member told detectives that she was also sexually assaulted by Trant.
On Tuesday, January 27, 2026, at about 3:40 p.m., Trant, who was already in lawful custody, was advised of the warrant for his arrest and the associated charges. Rehelio Trant, age 47, was subsequently placed under arrest for Unlawful Sexual Contact (DV), Assault in the Third Degree (DV), Aggravated Assault and Battery (DV), and Child Abuse, with bail set at $150,000.00. He was booked, processed, and returned to the Bureau of Corrections pending his Advice of Rights Hearing.
