December is National Impaired Driving Prevention Month

U.S. Virgin Islands – The Virgin Islands Police Department – Office of Highway Safety (VIPD–OHS) reminds the community that December is National Impaired Driving Prevention Month, a time dedicated to raising awareness about the deadly consequences of driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs.

As holiday celebrations increase throughout the month, so does the risk of impaired driving incidents. VIPD–OHS urges all motorists to make responsible choices: plan a sober ride, designate a sober driver, or use a ride service. One poor decision can cause a lifetime of harm.

“Keeping our roads safe is a shared responsibility,” said K’ Tonya Petrus, VIOHS Impaired Driving Program Manager. “We want everyone to enjoy the holidays safely—without tragedy.”

VIPD–OHS encourages motorists to stay alert, speak up if someone attempts to drive impaired, and report dangerous driving to 911 immediately. Together, we can protect lives and ensure a safe holiday season for all.

Drive Sober. Stay Alive.
