CIB Arrest 56-year-old Man for Assault as Efforts are Made to Apprehend Alleged Co-Conspirator  

St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands — The Virgin Islands Police Department’s Criminal Investigation Bureau on St. Thomas has arrested 56-year-old Jose Garcia and charged him with assault in the third degree and disturbance of the peace/ threats. His bail was set at $25,000.00. 

The male victim reported to police, that on Monday, February 10, 2025, Mr. Jose Garcia, stood across the street from his residence, calling out to his minor daughter. The victim explained that Garcia is an acquaintance of his daughter’s mother, and they have never had issues. The victim instructed his daughter, not to go to Garcia, as Garcia was intoxicated. Garcia became enraged, crossed the street toward them with a glass bottle, and swung it at the victim. Garcia created a loud disturbance, threatening to “shoot up” and burn down the victim’s residence with him inside. Mr. Garcia then made a phone call to his adult son, who appeared moments later, wielding a long knife and allegedly charged at the victim. Eyewitnesses and video footage confirmed the victim’s account. 

This investigation is ongoing, as efforts continue to apprehend the second individual involved. Anyone who has information regarding this crime is encouraged to contact 911, Detective Y.
