
St. Croix, U.S. Virgin Islands – On October 1, 2026, at approximately 2:30 p.m., the 911 Emergency Call Center received multiple calls about a robbery at Sonya’s jewelry store on Company Street in Christiansted.
According to witnesses, a male entered the store, pulled a machete, and threatened the employees. The individual left the store with a large amount of jewelry, cash, and employees’ personal belongings. Officers immediately searched the area, and the Special Operations Bureau team located the suspect in an abandoned structure along Mount Welcome Road. Officers recovered all the stolen items; to include jewelry, cell phones, and laptops and they placed 47-year-old Andrew Joseph under arrest.
Joseph faces charges of Robbery First, Carrying a dangerous weapon during the commission of a crime of violence, Assault First, Assault Third, Grand Larceny, Destruction of Property. His bail was set at $75,000.00.
Joseph was transported to the Wilbur H. Francis Command Police Station, where he was booked and then transported to the John Bell Correctional Facility pending his Advice of Rights Hearing.
