St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands – The Virgin Islands Police Department (VIPD) is investigating a homicide that occurred on Fortuna Beach on Thursday, September 24, 2026.
At about 5:52 p.m., concerned citizens contacted the 911 Emergency Call Center to report that there was an unresponsive male lying on Fortuna Bay Beach.
Responding VIPD officers observed an unresponsive black male who appeared to have suffered at least one gunshot wound to his body.
Emergency Medical Technicians also arrived at the scene and checked the male for vital signs and concluded that he did not have any signs of life.
The male’s next of kin, positively identified him as 27-year-old Kyle Thomas.
