VIPD INVESTIGATES APPARENT HOMICIDE-SUICIDE IN ESTATE ST. JOHN

ST. CROIX, U.S. Virgin Islands – On Saturday, September 12, 2026, at approximately 8:24 p.m., the 911 Emergency Call Center received a report from a woman who had arrived at a residence in Estate St. John, Christiansted and found an unresponsive female inside. The caller left the residence and contacted 911.

Responding officers located the female victim, who appeared to have sustained injuries consistent with a stabbing.

Detectives from the VIPD Criminal Investigation Bureau (CIB) responded to the scene. During their examination of the residence, detectives located an unresponsive male in a bathroom. He appeared to have sustained a possible gunshot wound.

Both victims were identified by next of kin as 56-year-old Carmen Ferdinand and her husband, 57-year-old Dennis Ferdinand.

Preliminary findings indicate that this incident may be a homicide-suicide. The circumstances surrounding both deaths remain under active investigation by CIB.

The VIPD Criminal Investigation Bureau asks anyone with information about this incident or other criminal activity to contact 911, CIB at 340-778-2211, or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).

This investigation remains active and ongoing.
