VIPD ARRESTS CLIFTON KING FOLLOWING ST. THOMAS ROBBERY INVESTIGATION

ST. THOMAS, U.S. Virgin Islands —The Virgin Islands Police Department (VIPD) has arrested
41-year-old Clifton King following an investigation into a reported robbery in the Subbase area
of St. Thomas.

On Saturday, August 15, 2026, at approximately 4:00 a.m., a female victim reported that she
and a male companion were sitting inside a vehicle and conversing in the area of Subbase
Road, near the former School Lunch location.

According to the preliminary investigation, both individuals were wearing gold jewelry,
including gold chains and a gold ring, when they were approached by unidentified assailants.
The victims reported that the assailants forcibly took their gold jewelry and cellular phones.
As detectives continued their investigation, they were able to track one of the stolen cellular
phones to the area of Simmonds Alley, where they located 41-year-old Clifton King in
possession of the stolen cellular phone.

King was subsequently arrested and charged with Buying, Receiving, or Possessing Stolen
Property; Grand Larceny; Reckless Endangerment in the Second Degree; and Disturbance of
the Peace.

The investigation remains ongoing as detectives work to identify any additional individuals
involved in the robbery.
