U.S. Virgin Islands – The Virgin Islands Police Department is encouraging residents and business owners to partner with law enforcement by joining the Virgin Islands Community Connect Camera Registry Program, an initiative designed to improve emergency response and assist investigators by connecting available security camera resources throughout the community.
The Virgin Islands Community Connect is a single-pane-of-glass integration platform that brings together multiple public safety technologies, including city-owned cameras, participating business surveillance systems, shots fired notification system, and automated license plate reader technology. The system provides responding officers with timely, accurate information during active incidents, helping improve situational awareness and response times.
As part of the program, residents can voluntarily register the location of their home security cameras, including Ring doorbells and other residential camera systems, by visiting www.vipd.vi.gov.
Registering a home camera does not provide the Virgin Islands Police Department with access to live video feeds. Instead, the registry simply lets investigators know where cameras are located, allowing officers to request video evidence if an incident occurs nearby.
Businesses also have the option to take participation a step further by integrating their surveillance camera systems with the Virgin Islands Community Connect. Businesses that choose this option can provide officers with secure, real-time access to camera feeds during emergencies. This capability can provide critical information to first responders, enhance officer safety, and improve response efforts during active incidents.
