St. Thomas, U. S. Virgin Islands – On Friday, July 17, 2026, at approximately 9:00 a.m., the Virgin Islands Police Department Marine Unit in the St. Thomas/St. John District began searching for 53-year-old Conrad Pondt, who had been reported missing on July 16, 2026.
After searching the areas of Saba Island and Savana Island, officers located Mr. Pondt at approximately 11:23 a.m. sitting on a rock near the shoreline of Savana Island. Mr. Pondt was safely assisted aboard where a preliminary assessment revealed no apparent injuries.
Mr. Pondt was transported to St. Thomas where he was evaluated by rescue personnel and later released into the custody of his friend.
