St. Croix, U.S. Virgin Islands – The Virgin Islands Police Department (VIPD) is investigating the death of a four-year-old boy who sustained a gunshot wound. The St. Croix 911 Emergency Call Center received notification of the incident on Thursday, July 16, 2026, at 7:01 p.m.
The child was transported to Juan F. Luis Hospital for emergency medical treatment but, despite lifesaving efforts, succumbed to his injuries.
The Major Crime Unit is leading the investigation to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident. At this stage of the investigation, no determination has been made.
