
St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands – On Wednesday, June 17, 2026, at 5:59 p.m., the 911 Emergency Call Center received a call about an auto collision where pedestrians were struck by a gold Honda CRV, that fled the scene headed towards Barbel Plaza.
Preliminary investigation revealed that the driver, who was identified as Michelle Donastorg, was heading eastward on Veterans Drive, when she struck a vehicle in the area of the Legislature and fled the scene. Donastorg then drove onto the sidewalk and struck two female pedestrians. She continued driving towards the intersection where her vehicle was blocked by three vehicles.
When Officers made contact with Donastorg, she appeared to be under the influence of alcohol and was taken into custody.
The victims were transported to Roy Lester Schneider Hospital where one of the victims, was treated for life threatening injuries and the other victim, Tanny Harman, age 49 succumbed to her injuries. Michelle Donastorg, 55, was placed under arrest and charged with Vehicular Homicide, Reckless Endangerment, DUI, Leaving the Scene of a collision with injuries, Third Degree Assault and Manslaughter. She was unable to post bail of $97,000.00 and was turned over to the Bureau of Corrections.
