St. Croix, U.S. Virgin Islands – On Monday, June 15, 2026, at approximately 6:04 p.m., the St. Croix 911 Emergency Call Center received a ShotSpotter notification and multiple calls reporting shots fired in Whim, along with reports of a possible gunshot victim.
The Virgin Islands Police Department, Emergency Medical Services, and other emergency personnel were dispatched to the area. Upon their response, they found an individual suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.
The victim was transported by ambulance to the Juan F. Luis Hospital for further medical treatment; however he succumbed to his injuries sustained from the gunshot wounds. The deceased was identified by family members as 45-year-old Rusiel Encarnacion.
