Economic Crime Unit Arrest Man for Theft and Fraud, After Selling Victims’ Vehicle without Permission on St. Thomas

St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands – On or about May 20, 2025, the Economic Crimes Unit initiated an investigation into a complaint of Grand Larceny, Forgery, and Obtaining Money/Property by False Pretense that was reported by the victims.

Investigation into this matter, revealed that the victims contacted Dino Marks through a post advertising the purchase and resale of vehicles. After Marks inspected the victims’ vehicle, he advised them that their vehicle was unrepairable and was unable to be sold. Marks offered to dispose the vehicle and claimed that he needed the vehicle’s Title and Registration, which was required for disposal. Marks later made repairs to the victims’ vehicle and sold it for the sum of $5,500.00 without the victims’ knowledge or permission.

Dino Marks, 47, was charged with Grand Larceny, Forgery Obtaining Money/Property By False Pretense. Bail was set at $10,000.00. Marks was processed and posted bail. His Advised of his Rights is scheduled for March 20, 2026.
