
St. Croix, U.S. Virgin Islands – The 911 Emergency Call Center received a call on January 25, 2026, at around 5:39 a.m., from an assault victim who stated that his son, Chavez Ali had strangled him and threatened to kill him. Patrol Officers made contact with the victim and transported him to the Juan F. Luis Hospital.
A detective from the Domestic Violence Unit was assigned to investigate this case. Investigation revealed that on January 24, 2026, at around 7:30 p.m., the victim and Ali were at home when Ali began cursing, ranting, acting erratically and physically assaulted the victim causing him to lose consciousness and left him with visible injuries.
Contact was made with 31-year-old Chavez Ali at his residence, and he was transported to the Wilbur Francis Command Police Station. Ali declined to provide a statement, and was placed under arrest for Assault Second DV, Simple Assault DV, and Disturbance of the Peace. He was booked and remanded to the John Bell Adult Correctional Facility pending his Advice of Rights Hearing.
