Police Arrest St. Croix Man for Allegedly Strangling Companion

St. Croix, U.S. Virgin Islands – On January 20, 2026, at approximately 3:56 p.m., the 911 Emergency Call Center received a report of a strangulation. Upon the arrival of the responding Detectives, they made contact with the victim who disclosed that she and Mr. Elijah Drew, got into a verbal altercation. She went on to say that Drew became enraged and placed her in a choke hold restricting her airway. The victim sustained injuries because of the assault.

Contact was made with 29-year-old Elijah Drew on January 22, 2026, at about 8:03 a.m. He was detained and transported to the Wilbur H. Francis Command Police Station and advised of his Miranda Rights. He was placed under arrest for Assault in the Second Degree, an act of domestic violence, along with Simple Assault & Battery, and Disturbance of the peace. Drew was booked, and no bail was set in this matter until seen by a judge. He was then transported to the John Bell Adult Correctional Facility pending his Advice of Rights hearing.
