ARREST MADE IN MAY 2025 SEXUAL ASSAULT CASE

HAROLD BRUNEY

St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands– On Monday, October 20, 2025, at approximately 6:48 p.m.,
members of the Virgin Islands Police Department arrested 45-year-old Harold Bruney of
Estate Contant, in connection with an ongoing investigation into a sexual assault that
occurred earlier this year.


Bruney was charged with Rape in the First Degree, Unlawful Sexual Contact in the First
Degree, First-Degree Assault, and Disturbance of the Peace.


The arrest stems from an incident that occurred on Sunday, May 11, 2025, at approximately
12:15 p.m. in the Contant area. According to the investigation, a female victim reported that
while walking toward her residence, she was attacked and sexually assaulted by a male
suspect. The suspect was described as tall, of Haitian descent, and having a muscular build.
Through further investigation, detectives identified the suspect as Harold Bruney.


The Virgin Islands Police Department’s Criminal Investigation Bureau conducted a thorough
investigation, which led to the issuance of an arrest warrant for Bruney.
