Investigation on Reported Sexual Assault of Minor on St. Thomas Led CIB to Arrest 23-year-old Perpetrator

St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands — The Virgin Islands Police Department’s Criminal Investigation Bureau detectives initiated an investigation, after a minor reported being sexually assaulted.

Investigation revealed that Mr. Alfred James served alcohol and narcotics to the minor and engaged in sexual intercourse and other sexually explicit conduct, which was reportedly recorded. The investigation led to the issuance of an arrest warrant for 23-year-old, Alfred King James.

On Thursday, February 20, 2025, James was apprehended by the Virgin Islands Police Department’s Special Response Team and the Florida Regional Caribbean Task Force. James was charged with rape in the first degree, aggravated rape, unlawful sexual contact, computer pornography, distribution of controlled substance to a minor, serving alcohol to a minor, child abuse and other related charges. Bail for James was set at $150,000.00.

The Virgin Islands Police Department is dedicated to protecting our community and will continue to investigate and pursue individuals who sexually abuse and exploit our children.
